Oh, to have enough time in the day to spend on this Mintpass puzzle calendar, which takes inspiration from those sliding-puzzle games we had as kids…only this time, with the day’s date. Yes, really.
With 41 puzzle-bits (and one space for allowing them to slide about), the idea behind this calendar is pretty simple—until you have to change the dates around for the next month. At least they’ve thought to include a “help” break on the bezel, which lets you pull out all the pieces and arrange them properly…rather than spending hours trying to slide them into place. - Apple a Day Calendar Reminds Me of a Certain Gadget Blog… [Calendars] Haha. An apple a day. Just like Gizmodo with all this Tablet news! Get it?! Funny. But this is different. It's a calendar concept. An ingenious one at that—and healthy too!Unfortunately, these calendars are only available in AOK health insurance offices. They were created by Serviceplan, an ad agency in Munch, and can hold 28, 30 or 31 apples. Just adjust the tube depending on the month. [I Believe In Adv book of joe via Neatorama] ...
- Okada Design Blog: Create an Event calendar using Codeigniter and jQuery On the Okada Design Blog there's a recent tutorial posted showing you how to create a simple calendar system by combining the CodeIgniter PHP framework and jQuery for some of the client side features. This blog inspired me to make an event calendar using CodeIgniter. You can download Bari's source files. Please unzip it and save them. We are going to use them later. Bari puts a demo here. We are going to add this to CodeIgniter. I continue using BackendPro for this purpose. Using the BakcendPro as a base, they create everything else to wrap around it: some...
- Youth of America Spend Half Their Waking Hours Staring at Screens [Charts] Or, if you count multitasking—which is just the kind of hysterical, stat-juicing thing you would do if you were running a study like this—nearly 11 hours a day. That doesn't leave a lot of time for fresh air. Even with out including multitasking hours, the Kaiser Family Foundation study shows that kids these days are watching TV, texting, or on the internet 7.5 hours each and every day. That's an hour more than in 2004, and an even bigger jump since 1999. Basically, if they're awake and not in school, they're staring at a screen. My first thought: so what?...
- Okaka Design Blog: Event calendar using Codeigniter and jQuery without BackendPro In a previous article posted to the Okada Design Blog, they showed you how to create a calendar using jQuery, CodeIgniter and the BackendPro toolset. They're back with a new article today showing how you can do the same thing without BackendPro. I have some requests for a Event Calendar without BackendPro. Since it is not using BeP, I only used CRUD without individual calendar. So there won't be any mycal function. I took out all of the Bep thingy and made it simpler (I hope). If you want the full tutorial on how the CodeIgniter part is set...
- Leonid Mamchenkov’ Blog: PHP date() and 53 weeks In doing some work with data and date ranges, Leonid Mamchenkov came across something strange about the "weeks" that the date and time functions in PHP work on. Sometimes, there's not always 52 weeks in a year. With code as simple and straight-forward as [our example], you'd probably look for the problem elsewhere. Maybe it's your statistical data which is wrong, or the graph is not generated properly. But the problem is here. How many weeks do you think there are in a year? A common knowledge says 52. However, if you think for a moment about how the...
